Abstract

Background. Existing methods for assessing the durability of complex technical systems are based on deterministic and probabilistic-statistical ideas. For structurally and functionally complex systems, in which service life is 30–50 years or more, often manufactured in small batches, the use of traditional methods for calculating durability indicators is very problematic. Therefore, the use of mathematical apparatus of functional analysis can improve the accuracy of prediction of the state of complex technical systems. For this purpose, two classes of operators are considered: the microscopic and macroscopic entropy operators and the operator of the internal time of the life cycle of systems in the modes «past-present-future». The views and concepts of philosophical and scientific thought about the nature of time, as well as the postulates of the modes “past-present-future” are analyzed in detail.
Deterministic and probabilistic-statistical methods for assessing durability indicators are shown to require a large amount of both experimental data and data on actual operation of objects, which is often difficult to accomplish. The introduction of the new concept into the theory of durability of complex technical systems “internal” time plays an important role in the transition from a dynamic, reversible description of the functioning characteristic of classical mechanics to a probabilistic description. The internal time of the equipment of complex technical systems is fundamentally different from astronomical time, although both have the same dimension. It’s considered appropriate to use new mathematical methods of functional analysis for the development of specific engineering methods for assessing the durability of complex critical systems of long-term use, taking into account the asymmetry effect of internal time.
